Obituary of Norma Elizabeth Egelston

Norma Elizabeth Egelston of Glen, NY died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born on March 18, 1930 to William and Mildred (Mooney) Barnes. Norma was born in Schenectady, NY and graduated from Duanesburg High School in 1947. She married Grant Egelston on October 26, 1947 in Delanson, NY. They were married for 61 years until Grant's passing in 2009. Norma was a home maker and her greatest accomplishment was raising a strong, close knit family on Glen Meadows Farm in Glen, NY. The Egelston home was always warm and full of laughter. Norma leaves behind her ten children Michael (Mary Ellen), Patrick (Donna), Janie Zanella (Louis), William (Linda), Dennis (Judith), Sandra Avery (Bartle), Nancy Langdon (the late David), John (Michelle), Amy Augustine (Michael), and Beth Carpenter (David), 33 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, her brother William Barnes (Linda), her sister Beverly Spreckels (the late Ronald), her sister-in-law Marion Foster (the late Monte), and many nieces and nephews. Norma was best known for her quick sense of humor and masterful storytelling skills. She always had the perfect one-liner for any situation. She loved to play cards, was a member of the Glen-Mohawk Seniors, and did quilt class at the Inman Center. Norma was a weekly patron of the Winners Circle restaurant and considered them a part of her family. Norma's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her home was host to many fun family traditions, including Breakfast Club every Sunday morning and Cousin Night every Monday night with her grandchildren.
