Dear Inge: I was the Social Worker when Dr. Z came to Wilkinson and it was a pleasure to know him. He took good care of my Mom when she became a patient....And, he was always there for the patients, the staff and the families. We used to stand outside and smell the "good air" and not buses from the city life.

We are so very sorry and saddened for the loss of your husband Alex. I am truly grateful to have called him my boss in the six years I worked with him in private practice . The very gentle Giant he was taught me so much. I will always remember his very humble kindness that he always gave to his employees and the excellent Care he gave to his many patients. I am sad because when I came back to the practice he had retired . I am glad that I got to see him from time to time when he visited us in the office with a smile on his face even if he was struggling. We Pray that he is finally at Peace. So sorry! I was Director of Nursing at Wilkinson from the opening till 1991. I have so many memories about the good Dr. it is difficult to recall exact situations. My dear cousin Alexander (we called him this to differentiate him from my brother whom we called Alex) was the best friend of my early childhood. For 4 years we lived in the same apartment building and were together almost daily. After my family moved away, we still saw each other on most weekends and enjoyed laughing together about the odd people and events in our family. For 2 years we attended summer camp together. We shared a love of learning and avidly pursued education. It thrills me that he achieved so much in his life and that he did so much to help others. Alex will be greatly missed.

We are so sorry to hear of Dr. Zimmerman's death. He had been our PCP since we moved to Hagaman in 1900 until he retired. Even though we have lived out of state for a year, we miss him. Uncle Alex was always kind and welcoming to me. Within ten minutes of our first meeting, I was calling him "unc". As our family grew, he was thoughtful and generous to all his grand nieces and nephews. We will miss Alex's sense of humor and words of wisdom.
