Obituary of Richard J. Stockwell
Richard J. "Rich" Stockwell III, 36, died suddenly on Thursday, January 10, 2008. He was born January 15, 1971 in Saratoga Springs. He graduated from Galway Central High School in 1989. He later attended John F. Meyers BOCES, receiving a certificate for heavy equipment operation. He was a machine operator for Adirondack Forest Industries until he became disabled in 1993.
He was a CB radio enthusiast, loved playing the drums and visiting casinos. Rich was always quick to lend a hand, share a joke and made friends very easily. He always put his friends and family first and all who knew him will sadly miss him. Rich had a very special relationship with his late grandfather, Edward M. Hill, who predeceased him in 2003. Rich considered him to be his best friend.
He is survived by his parents Ralph and Edna Hill Bourdeau of Corinth; grandmother, Gloria B. Hill of Galway; a brother, Michael Bourdeau of Corinth, sisters Sherrie Chris Barnaby of Queensbury and Lisa Tim Webster of Queensbury, aunts and uncles: Martin B. Shirley Hill of Broadalbin, Edward F. Deborah Hill of Galway, Bernard J. Hill of Galway, Gloria Clark Christiansen of Colton, South Dakota, Leslie P. Hill of Ochalawaha, Florida, Dennis Tammy Hill of Johnstown, Jessie Lawrence of Galway and Darryl Patricia Hill of Galway, many close cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his grandfather, Rich was predeceased by an uncle, Charles Christopherson.
Family and friends are invited and may call Sunday, January 13 from 11-1 at the Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin. A funeral service will be held the same day at 1p.m. with Reverend William Marshall of Providence Baptist Church presiding. Interment will take place at Barkersville Cemetery, Galway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rich's memory to the Providence Volunteer Fire Department, 2183 Rte. 29 Galway, NY 12074 or Providence Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Rich's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the Emergency Room staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, for the care and comfort extended to them. A very special thank you to Joanne Davey and Tina Bagby.
