Obituary of Sadie Yurkon Dargush
Sadie Yurkon Dargush, 89, of Clinton Street passed away Monday, January 14, 2008 at her son's home on Saratoga Avenue in Amsterdam. She was born in Amsterdam on September 30, 1918 a daughter of the late Joseph and Ursula Petrusuna Yurkon.
Sadie was a life long resident of the area having graduated in 1936 from the former Wilbur Lynch High School and from the former Reynolds Business School. She married Vincent B. Dargush on May 3, 1947, he predeceased her in 1979. Sadie was retired from the Farmer's Home Administration, USDA in Johnstown, NY. She was of Roman Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Living Rosary Society of St. Casimir's, the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Casimir's and Club 60 of St. Mary's Hospital.
Her loving family includes one son, Anthony J. Holly Dargush of Amsterdam, two daughters, Patricia A. Stanley Pyc of Lebanon, NH and Carolyn Davis Willoughby of Glenville, and eleven grandchildren, Maura, Maeve, Vincent and Duke Dargush; Jessica Jason Grondin, Mary and Amanda Pyc; Sean Sarah Willoughby, Colleen and Roxanne Willoughby and Jamie Brian Lambert. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sadie was predeceased by two brothers, John and Leo Yurkon and her sister, Josephine Gauch.
Funeral Services will be at 10:15 AM on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM from St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Contributions in Sadie's memory may be made to St. Casimir's Church, 260 East Main St., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY.
