Obituary of Lena L. Jones

Lena L. Martuscello Jones, 68, formerly of the Fonda-Fultonville area, passed away Wednesday evening January 16, 2008 at the Wells House Skilled Nursing Facility in Johnstown, NY. Born in Fultonville, NY on April 1, 1939 a daughter of Milton and Luella Mae Hoffman Carpenter. She was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Lena was employed for many years as a Teacher's Aide at the HFM Boces in Broadalbin, NY. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the church's Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge, and a former member and leader of the Girl Scouts in the Fonda-Fultonville area. She was first married to Frank Martuscello in 1960, he passed away in April of 1986. She later married Carleton "Joe" Jones in 2001; he passed away in December of 2005. She is survived by, two sons, Ralph Martuscello Cheryl of Broadalbin, NY, Bruce Martuscello Stacey of Fonda, NY. Two daughters, Lisa Hinkle Ron of Addison, Maine and Gloria Pickering Mike of Tribes Hill, NY. Two brothers, Jack Carpenter of Georgia and Edward Carpenter of Florida. Sisters, Helen Quackenbush of Hammondsport, NY, Grace Blair of Fultonville, NY, and Phyllis Calkins, also of Fultonville, NY. Eight grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Justin, Christopher, Whitney, Kelly, Isabella and Colin. Three great-grandchildren, Sage, Nicholas and David. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Lena was predeceased by four sisters, Geraldine Carpenter, Gertrude Potter, Doris Hitchcock and Rhoda Morse. Two brothers, Harry Carpenter and Kenneth Carpenter. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 21, 2008 at 9:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00A.M. at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Broadway, Fonda, NY with Father Patrick Gallagher as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday January 20, 2008 from 3:00 to 6:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, Fonda, NY.
