Obituary of Anna Marie Richards

Anna Marie Richards, 71, formerly of Forest Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away Thursday Evening at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown, where she has been a resident since December of 2000. Born December 30, 1936, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late William and Pauline Severin Sweet. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and attended nursing school. Anna Marie worked as a LPN locally for the John Hancock Insurance Company in Massachusetts and the Amsterdam Printing and Litho Co. in Amsterdam until retiring in 2000 due to ill health. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed having her dogs around, playing bingo and taking care of her house plants. In 1964, she married James E. Richards, who passed away in 1998. Anna Marie was also predeceased by a brother Charles Sweet and a sister Muriel Sweet. Survivors include, two sons; Robert W. Hudgins and George W. Richards of Amsterdam; two daughters, Beverly P. Hudgins of Arizona and Angelina M. Hoyt of Ephratah, NY; a brother Kenneth L. Sweet of Amsterdam; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A legacy candle ceremony will be held on Sunday at 4:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made in Anna Marie's memory to Wells House, 201 West Madison Avenue, Johnstown, NY 12095.
