Obituary of Jose A. Payano
Jose A. "Jochy" Payano Jr., 35, of McCleary Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
Born in Valhalla, NY on March 6, 1973, son of Bishop Jose and Felicia Cabo Payano Sr., Jochy lived in Amsterdam most of his life. He was a 1992 graduate of Amsterdam High School, where he was popular, played on the basketball team and excelled in art. His art work can still be seen on the Amsterdam High School campus. Jose was a talented barber and was self-employed for over 15 years. He was a very artistic and adventurous person, who was a great storyteller and loved to have fun. Jose was a loving father and was loved by his family and friends. His Christian faith was nourished by his parents in the Church of God Prophecy, where he was baptized and found a relationship with God.
Jose was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Thenard Cabo and Miguelina Samson Cabo Garcia; his paternal grandparents, Wenceslao and Josefa Payano; and one aunt, Zoraida Perdomo.
In addition to his loving parents, survivors include his beloved son Antonio Jose Payano, and his mother Tara Beagle, of Saratoga Springs, NY; a dear sister Wendy Payano Burnette and her husband Reginald, of Durham, NC; one beloved niece Victoria Burnette; one uncle, Thenard A. Cabo and his wife Warrine Thornton of Tarrytown, NY; aunts, Doris Cabo King and her husband Rev. Luis J. King of Amsterdam, NY; Julia, Mirquella and Marcia Payano of the Dominican Republic; one great aunt, Josefina Samson of White Plains, NY; a first cousin who was like a sister, Almaira Perdomo Hans and her husband Rev. Ruben Hans; his two best friends from childhood, Steve Teabout and Aaron Czelusniak; and a host of cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services for Jose Jr. will be held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 3:00P.M. at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Main St., Amsterdam with Jose's uncle, Rev. Luis J. King presiding. Interment will be next to his grandmother in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends in Monday May 5th, 2008 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the church prior to the funeral service. Flowers are welcome. The family is also establishing an education fund for Jose Jr.'s son, Antonio.
