Obituary of James Kollar
James "JimBob" Kollar, 63, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 17, 1953; he was a son of the late George and Betty Johnson Kollar. Jim is a lifelong resident of the City of Johnstown and a graduate of Johnstown High School, Class of 1972. Jim worked for Curtin-Herbert in Gloversville for 35 years and Tempering Equipment in Fonda for 3 years until his retirement in 2016. He was a member of the Johnstown Eagle's Club for over 20 years.
Jim was a music lover and many knew Jim as "JimBob" while he was a DJ for wedding, parties and other occasions since the 1980's. He loved his model trains and for many years he was a fixture at Super Dirt Week in Syracuse. Jim could always make people laugh with his sense of humor and jokes. Most of all, Jim loved being around his family and friends; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Putman Kollar, whom he wed on June 29, 1991; his siblings, Judy Smith, Linda Shufelt (Walter), George Kollar (Barbara), Amy Smith, Nick Kollar (Cindy), Jeff Kollar (Amy) and Dan Kollar; mother in law, Dorothy Putman; sister and brother in laws; nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews and cousins also survive. James is also survived by his beloved Lab, Morgan.
