Obituary of Raffaela Tucci

Mrs. Raffaela "Rae" Tucci, 94, formerly of West Main St., Amsterdam, passed away peacefully Thursday morning May 11, 2017 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 3, 1923 a daughter of the late Antonio Romano and Caterina Greco-Romano. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Rae worked as a glove maker for the former Rose Snell Glove Company of Amsterdam . She also worked as a retail salesperson at the former Fashion Bug Clothing Store and the Marcus Breir Company also in Amsterdam. She was an active communicant of both St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Amsterdam and the former St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a member of the Santa Sofia Society of the church. Rae had spunk and a zest for life and loved spending time with her family, especially the many family gatherings over the years. Raffaela married Herman A. Tucci on July 28, 1946. They were married 51 years before he passed away on May 16, 1998. Survivors include her dear sons, John R. Tucci of Moorpark, CA and Michael J. Tucci of Carlsbad, CA. Her cherished grandchildren, Anitra Tucci, Jeanean Tucci,and John Tucci and Sloane Jacobs. Several nieces, nephews and cousins survive. Rae was predeceased by her siblings, Vito A. Greco, Louis A. Greco, Anne Licardi and Carmella Alessi. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday May 17, 2017 at 11:15A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey L'Arche, M.S. as celebrant. Interment will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday evening May 16, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam, NY 12010.
