Obituary of Leon Walrath
Mr. Leon Walrath, 80, of Paris, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017.
He was born on September 5, 1936 in Fort Plain, NY he was the son of the late Raymond D. Walrath and Emma G. Paul Walrath. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Episcopalian faith. Following his military service, he spent many years working as an automotive mechanic and body technician. He worked locally at Walrath's Garage, Hawkings Autobody, M. W. Roosevelt and Sons, and Sitterly's. Leon then moved to Arkansas where he worked at Mark Varnell's Body Shop until his retirement.
In his spare time, Leon enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time with his family and dogs, Missy and Nadia.
He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Turner and Gertrude Smith; and a sister in law, Nancy Walrath.
Survivors include his two daughters, Tracy Crane of Paris, AR and Tina Walrath of Canajoharie, NY; his sister, Doris Geesler of St. Johnsville, NY; two brothers, Leland Walrath of Salem, NY and David Walrath of Canajoharie, NY; his former wife, Karen Konik of Palatine Bridge, NY; grandchildren, Thomas Jr. and Troy, Cara (Scott) Snyder, Mychell (Brian) Harrington and Cody Burton; great grandchildren, Scotty, Katy, Nevaeh, Caren, Devon, Brian Jr., Hailey and Emma.
A Gathering for Relatives and friends will be held on Sunday June 4, 2017 from 10am until 2p.m. at the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department, Erie Blvd., Canajoharie, NY. A blessing will be held at 12 noon. Burial with Military Honors were held in McKendree Cemetery, Paris, AR.
