Obituary of James P. Lynch
James P. Lynch, 72, passed away peacefully Tuesday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Hackensack, NJ on Dec. 28, 1944, Jim was the son of the late James K. and Mildred Huncik Lynch. He grew up in Hillsdale, NJ, and attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Jim later went on to earn a master's degree in mechanical engineering from Union College and a master's in industrial administration from Lynchburg College, Virginia. He worked for Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory for 40 years before retiring in 2006. Following his retirement, he contributed to the community as a math tutor for Schenectady County Community College. Jim was an avid outdoors-man, who loved to hike, boat, kayak, and play tennis and golf. He cherished times spent with his family, especially at their vacation home on Schroon Lake. He was a member of the Adirondack Experience Museum and the American Association of Mechanical Engineers.
On Aug. 8, 1970 he was united in marriage to the former Mary-Alice Wickins.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughters Margaret "Meg" Cotter-Lynch and her husband Sean of McKinney, TX, and Katherine "Kate" Lynch McNeill and her husband Ryan of Newton, MA; grandchildren Mabel and Ruby Cotter, and Thomas and Nora McNeill; his sister Margaret "Peg" Boyne and her husband Jim of Hatfield, PA, and sister-in-law Ann Caldwell and her husband Bert of Wakefield, MA; and nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 1:00 pm at the Church of St. Edward the Confessor, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd. by Fr. Patrick Butler and Fr. Chris DeGiovine. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday at the Chapel of St. Edward's, prior to the Mass, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm.
