Obituary of Virginia Zysik
Virginia Zysik, 90, of the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital with her loving family at her bedside.
She was the daughter of the late Teofil and Sophie Slezak Zysik. She lived most of her life in Amsterdam and she was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Virginia was a self-taught illustrator and worked for many United States Government Agencies and she was last employed at the United States Navy Depot in Scotia for a number of years until retiring in 1985. She loved to paint, draw and also enjoyed making homemade cards for her family and friends. She loved Amsterdam and enjoyed spending time with family and friends with a good conversation and she always had a story to tell. She was of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Survivors include a brother; Dr. Edmund T. (Jean) Zysik, Sr. of Green Valley, AZ; four nephews, Dr. Edmund T. (Kathy) Zysik, Jr. of Massena, NY, Dr. David (Debbie) Zysik of Massena, NY, Jeffrey Zysik of Alexandria, VA, and Dr. Michael (Dr. Julie) Zysik of Perrysburg, OH; one niece, Karen (Tom) Freidhof of Lewiston, NY; several great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti presiding. Interment will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. There will be no calling hours.
