Obituary of Dianna Cecelia Abissi
Miss Dianna Cecelia Abissi of 30 Fairfield Road Enfield, CT joined our lord peacefully April 11, 2011 at St. Francis hospital after an extended illness. Dianna was born in St. Mary's hospital in Amsterdam, NY on February 27, 1955.
Dianna is the daughter of Charles and Cecelia Licardo Abissi and goddaughter of Miss Catherine Licardo of Hagaman, NY.
Dianna was a life long resident of Enfield leaving many loved ones, fond and loving memories and friends.
Dianna graduated from Enfield High School and participated in many Enfield cultural activities.
Dianna was a part of the Enfield High School choir and majorettes. She participated in music with American International choir while still in high school.
As a majorette for Enfield High School, she designed and restyled the majorette outfits to emulate the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders for Enfield Raidettes majorettes.
Dianna received all A's from her year at American International College for choir, music, and economics. Dianna continued her education at Bauder Fashion College in Miami, Florida and received her Associates of Art degree in Fashion Merchandising in May 1977. Dianna received many outstanding awards for her creative projects and commercial skits.
Dianna was employed and retired from J. C. Penney custom decorating. Dianna was the Studio Coordinator at Enfield Mall, West Farms Mall and Buckland Hills Mall and was Director of many studio decorators and trained decorators. Dianna designed a child's bedroom which made a great deal of money and was highly recognized.
Dianna endured diabetes illness since the age of 6 and kidney failure since 1978. Dianna had an enjoyable life and all who met her enjoyed her.
Charles Abissi, daddy, was eager to give his daughter, Dianna, the gift of life when she needed a kidney transplant. But Daddy in his offering this gift his own life was saved instead. Final tissue test on daddy showed a cancerous tumor on his left kidney. When God closes a door he open a window. Dianna saved daddy's life! Dianna received a kidney in 1988.
Dianna is survived by her parents Charles and Cecelia Abissi, grandmother Rosalie Licciardi, her sister Charlene and husband David Paluck of Enfield CT, and brother Charles Abissi of Shelton, CT and his three children Izabela, goddaughter Kristina, and Katherine.
She is also survived by one uncle, Rudolph Licardo, and aunts Helen Salatino, Catherine Licardo, Mary Pavilonis, Josephine Spina, Virginia Licardo, Annie Sgroi and Carmella Bruno.
She is also survived by several cousins.
Dianna's funeral services will be held Monday at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi, and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:15 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 39 St. John Street Amsterdam, NY . Fr. Pascal A. Iannotti, celebrant. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-6 pm at the funeral home.The Family will receive Relatives and Friends Monday after the Cemetery at Parillo's Armory Grill Restaurant.
A memorial mass will be offered Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Holy Family Church in Enfield.
