It has been over 30 years since I had talked to Ron at Bishop Scully High School, yet it seems like only yesterday. I had the great pleasure of getting to know Ron on the gridiron, and he was as devoted to his team as he turned out to be toward his loving family. Ron, as you know, is a very special man. You were one of my best friends in my life. I am so blessed to be part of your loving family and share special times with. I got to watch your children grow into wonderful people and still be a part of their lives. We have shared some great times together from volleyball to Giants football games. To this day I still laugh at the time you and Pete ate the wings and drank the beer on Bob and I at the Sylvan beach tournament. My most sincere condolences to the Papierniak family. Ron and I were good friends at Perth Central School and I first met him while walking to church school. He was extremely reverent and a great friend to have. He loved sports and we both became Mets fans at a very early age. When he went to Scully it felt like he'd gone to Siberia before the age of cell phones. We didn't see each other again until facing each other our senior year on the gridiron. He was as affable as ever, despite the circumstances. And that's what I'll remember most about Ron - he kept everything in perspective and was a friend to everyone.
