Obituary of Paula Gryscavage
Paula Gryscavage, 56, of Church Street, passed away Friday morning at St. Mary's Hospital after being involved in an auto accident that morning.
Born September 7, 1955 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Stanley and Marion Hage Gryscavage. She was a graduate of Bishop Scully High School in Amsterdam and received an Associates Degree from Schenectady Community College.
Paula was employed since 2004 as a security guard for the Saratoga Racino and the Saratoga Flat Track in Saratoga Springs.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and the church choir. Paula spent countless hours working for the Republican Party. She was a 20 year member of the Montgomery Republican Party and served as the 4th Ward Republican Committee chairwomen and also served as an election inspector at 4th Ward polling stations and getting petitions signed, no matter what the weather was.
Paula loved decorating her home for the holidays and enjoyed spending time at the Racino and Race Track. She loved watching the horses, she also enjoyed listening to music and gardening.
Survivors include her two sisters, Christine R. Gryscavage of Glenville, NY and Joan A. Gryscavage of Asheville, NC; a fiancé Stanley Socks Witcher of Amsterdam; a special nephew Andrew Greene Amanda of Tampa, Fl; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Burial will take place at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Paula's memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
