Obituary of Alberta L. Maaser
Alberta L. Maaser, 88, formerly of Fort Plain, entered into eternal peace with the angels on September 11, 2011 at the Palatine Nursing Home, with her family by her side.
A lifelong area resident, Alberta was born on November 28, 1922 in Fort Plain, NY to the late William and Emma Lord Swartz. She graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1940. Alberta was employed by Montgomery Ward's Catalog Store in Fort Plain. She along with her husband and family owned and operated Denalee Farms until their retirement.
On June 19, 1943 she was united in marriage to Karl B. Maaser at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville. That union lasted 64 years until his passing on March 19, 2007. She was also predeceased by two brothers Raymond and Roger Swartz.
A firm believer in a strong family bond; Karl and Alberta passed their legacy of love on to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her loving family includes two children, Dennis W. Maaser and his wife Cathy and Tana L. Young of Ft. Plain; six grandchildren, Tammy Chittenden and her husband Robert of Ft. Plain, Jodi Anderson and her husband Brad of Texas, Janine Horning and her husband Jason of Ft. Plain, Julie Crouse and her husband Gerry of Ft. Plain, Scott Young and his wife Lori of St. Johnsville, Randy Maaser of Ft. Plain; many great grandchildren, Kaila Hayner and her husband Stanley of Alaska, Tiffani and Sharissa Hogan, Tyler and Summer Anderson, Kaleb and Noah Horning, Evan and Erin Crouse, Tyler and Alexis Maaser, all of Ft. Plain; Robert and Matthew Chittenden and Hailey Anderson, all of Georgia; one great great grandson, Braydon Hayner of Alaska; one sister, Leona Becker of Ilion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman, presiding. Interment will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 12 noon.
