Obituary of Vincent Joseph Spagnola

Mr. Vincent Joseph Spagnola Jr., 80, of State Hwy 67, Ft. Johnson, NY, passed away Monday September 12, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Amsterdam, NY on March 18, 1931 a son of the late Vincent J. and Marianna Romano Spagnola Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. Vincent was employed for many years as an assembler/welder at the General Electric Company in Schenectady until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Spagnola enjoyed fishing, bulldozing and sitting beside the ocean. He was a communicant of the former St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He married Angela M. DaBiere Spagnola on June 28, 1959. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by one son, Joseph Vincent Spagnola of Ft. Johnson. Two daughters, Marie Ann Romanski and her husband Ken of Delanson, NY and Darlene Slezak and her husband Scott of Ft. Johnson. One brother, Marshal Spagnola and his wife Patricia of Amsterdam. Cherished grandchildren, Elissa Renee Spagnola, Joshua Robert Spagnola, Victoria Romanski and Michael Romanski. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog "Toby" also survive. Vincent was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Anthony Spagnola and a sister Antoinette Spagnola. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 16, 2011 at 7:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti presiding. Cremation will take place at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday September 16, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny's Corners Rd. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
