Obituary of David C. Arndt
David C. Arndt, 63, of Perth passed away on September 14, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side. He was born November 18, 1947 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Paul and Ruth Post Arndt.
David is a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Soon after high school David was drafted by the United States Army. He served in the 11th Armored Cavalry Division. He is the recipient of many honorable metals such as the National Defense Metal, Vietnam Service Metal with two bronze stars and many more. He was honorably discharged in July of 1969. David was a Machinist at General Electric for 34 years, as well as a member of the IUE- CWA Local 301. After his retirement he opened his own business, D&D Auto. He also worked for Fucillo Chrysler-Jeep shuttling cars. He enjoyed boating, camping and his 1931 Ford Model A. Most of all he loved his family.
His loving family includes his wife, Dawn L. Vickers Arndt whom he wed on May 6, 1967. They shared a beautiful union of 44 years. His daughters Carrie E. Arndt, Heather A. Todd Macfarlane and Linda J.Thomas Scott all of Perth, NY. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jonathan Scott and Emily Macfarlane. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for David will be September 17, 2011 at 12 PM at the Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the funeral service beginning at 10AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Perth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Mountain Valley Hospice or to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral Home office.
