Obituary of Frances M. Ward
Frances ?Fran? M. Ward, age 56 of Mayfield passed away on Saturday October 1, 2011 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam, with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born on July 12, 1955 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter and only child of the late Rudolph and Lillian Ormill Miklos.
Fran graduated from Mayfield Central School in 1972. She worked in sales for many years in the local area starting with real estate with Robert Cross in Johnstown, W49BA Cable T.V. in Gloversville, WIZR Radio in Johnstown and then went on to sell automobiles Browns Ford of Johnstown, Brown Ford-Mercury of Amsterdam and most recently working for Steet Toyota in Johnstown.
Fran was the past President of the Mayfield Democratic Club, past President of Mayfield Concerned Citizens, past President of the Village of Mayfield?s Zoning Board and past member of the Mayfield Lions Club.
On April 18, 1987, Fran married the love of her life, Joseph E. Ward. They shared 24 years united in marriage.
In addition to her husband Fran is survived by four daughters: Marianne Cook of Mayfield, Jessica Ward of Gloversville, Cynthia Cerra of North Carolina, Rachel Ward of Mayfield, one son: Jamie Ward of Mayfield, 10 grandchildren: Nickolas, Bailey, Brady, Zoey, Joe, Lilly, Katie, Trevor, Sebastian and Ruby.
Fran?s children and grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Addition survivors include her loving Aunt Madge Montayne of Mayfield and Aunt Margaret Verderame of Torrington, CT as well as several cousins and dear friends.
Fran?s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff in Maria Hall at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam as well as Dr. Goslin?s group NYOH in Amsterdam.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday October 3, 2011 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2011 at St. Joseph?s Church, 7 North Street, Broadalbin with the Rev. Charles Gaffigan as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
