Obituary of Mariano Duchessi

Mariano "Chickie" Duchessi, 73, of Amsterdam, passed away early Saturday morning October 29, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam following a long illness. Born in Amsterdam, NY on January 26, 1938 a son of the late William and Domenica LoGuidice Duchessi. He attended Amsterdam Schools and went on to attend college at The Citadel Military College in South Carolina before transferring to the University of Maryland. Mariano was a career U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired after 27 years of Active Duty service. He was stationed in Dover Delaware, Rhode Island and overseas in Germany for a time. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He is survived by his wife Mary Williamson Duchessi. Two children, William and Sharon Duchessi of Sacremento, California. Two grandchildren, William and Gabrielle. Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive. "Chickie" as he was affectionately referred to by his friends and family bravely confronted whatever life threw his way. He never stopped smiling and truly enjoyed his life to the very end. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 9:15AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John St., Amsterdam, NY. Burial of cremated remains will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund c/o the funeral home.
