Obituary of Richard D. Kucel

Richard D. Kucel, age 76 years, of Johnstown, NY passed away on July 17, 2017 with his loving family by his side at Albany Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1940 in Gloversville, NY and is the son of the late Lawrence Kucel and Betty (Merrill) Kucel. A private cremation took place on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at the Parkview Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home at 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 11 am to 1 pm, with a 1 pm memorial service at the funeral home. Richard is survived by one son, David R. (Megan) Kucel, two daughters, Patricia Kucel and Kimberly Martuscello, three step children, Darla (Rick) Allen, Richard Jackson and Robin Kadle, two brothers Ronald (Barb) Kucel and Robert (Jill) Kucel, two sisters, Jerene (Gary) Atty and Jewel (Clayton) Ernst. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also a long time companion, Betty Conte, and a dear friend, Harry Miller. During his lifetime, Richard was a leather worker for many years and retired from Colonial Tanning in Gloversville, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors especially with his family. He also enjoyed all kinds of food. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association at 418 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207.
