Obituary of Mary A. Ilnicki
Mary Anne Politano Ilnicki, 84, of Scenic Drive, Hagaman, NY, died peacefully on July 27, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany with her family by her side.
Born in Yonkers, NY on May 11, 1933, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Antonina San Filippo Politano. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of the former Wilbur H Lynch High School Class of 1951 in Amsterdam.
She was a communicant of the former St. Michael the Archangel Church in Amsterdam.
On May 1, 1954 she was united in marriage Edward M. Ilnicki. He passed away on December 12, 2014. They were together for 60 years and raised a family and built a wonderful life together.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, traveling with friends but above all she enjoyed being with her boys and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her three sons, Michael and his wife Mary of Rexford, Patrick and his wife Kelly of Mayfield, and Edward and his wife Michele of Amsterdam. One brother, Anthony Politano of Iowa. Nine cherished grandchildren, Brian (Shani) Ilnicki, Laura (Bryan) Bennett, Andrew (Teresa) Ilnicki, Annalea (Lindsay Hinkle) Ilnicki, Emily (Vincent) McCallum, Elana Ilnicki, Christopher (Nachelle) Ilnicki. Two step-grandchildren, Emily and Katelyn Smith. Nieces, Sharri Joos and family and Leeanne Fabor and family all of Iowa. Twelve great-grandchildren, and lifelong friends, James and Gloria Raucci and family along with her dear friends and caring neighbors, Donna and Robert Brunt. Several cousins in the Capital Dostrict, Yonkers, NY and Italy along with her devoted health aide, Katrina Ney also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Calling hours for Mary will be held on Tuesday August 1, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice, Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 315 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY 12208 or to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
