Obituary of Lena Fusella Iannuzzi

Lena Fusella Iannuzzi, 92, of Amsterdam, N.Y, has gone to her eternal rest on August 1st, 2017 with her loving family by her side at St. Mary's Hospital. Born on March 15th, 1925, in Amsterdam N.Y, she was the daughter of the late Carmella (Boscanio) Fusella and Joseph Fusella. Lena was a lifetime Amsterdam resident. She graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1943 and the Amsterdam School of Commerce. On September 8th, 1946 Lena was united in marriage to Arthur Iannuzzi. It was a strong union that lasted 66 wonderful years until his passing on March 16th, 2012. Lena spent many years as a secretary/bookkeeper for S&G Cramer Co. in Amsterdam. She also served many years as an Election Poll Inspector. Lena was a parishioner of the former St. Michael's the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and a member of their St. Rita Rosary Sodality. She was a lifetime member of Purple Heart and the VFW Auxiliaries. Lena spent her happiest days caring for her home and loving family. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, sewing, and visiting with family and close friends. She also enjoyed participating in BINGO at The Inman Center. Lena was a 30 year cancer survivor who courageously fought and beat breast cancer. Lena is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Roy) Delarm and Diane (David) Fyfe; her son Arthur V. (Lisa) Iannuzzi; her sister Geraldine Bayes; her brother Joseph (Joan) Fusella; her brother-in-law Americo (Carmela) Iannuzzi; her 6 grandchildren, Andrew (Kathleen), Heather (Joe), Brian (Christine), Michael (Natalie), Michelle (Daniel), Evan; and her 6 great grandchildren, Sundae, Wynter, Collyns, Ryleigh, Ellie, Lukas, and a great granddaughter on the way. Nieces, nephews and cousin also survive. Lena was predeceased by her beloved husband Arthur Iannuzzi; and her loving parents Carmella and Joseph Fusella. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Adam Snider & Amsterdam Family Practice for years of kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank Dr. Olufemi Ogunjana and all the doctors and nurses in the Progressive Care unit of Saint Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday August 7th, 2017 at 9am at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Stanislaus Church, 52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as Celebrant. Interment will follow the Mass and take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, N.Y, 12871 at 1pm, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-7pm on Sunday August 6th, 2017 at the funeral home.
