Obituary of Breta A. Rossi

Breta A. Rossi , 78 , of Amsterdam , New York entered into eternal life Saturday August, 5 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 24, 1938 in Albany , New York to Herbert and Julia (Slocum ) Hallenbeck . Breta is survived by her husband George V. Rossi, they were married July 14, 1957. They resided in the City of Amsterdam then later moved to Town of Perth in 1964. They raised their four sons Michael (Tracey) Rossi of Barre VT, David Rossi ( Amanda ) Miami Florida, George H. (Marlene) Rossi of Perth, Jamie (Tressa) Rossi of Perth in that home. Their home was also welcome to many extended family to include Breta's mother Julia and many other members of the extended family She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Kyle, Christopher, Tauna, Rhiannon, Jeffrey, Amanda, Michelle, Morgan and Anthony. Breta was survived by her supportive sister in law Patricia ( Joe ) Bezak of Hagaman and brother in law Richard Rossi ( Wanda ) of Paisley, Florida. She has many loved nieces and nephews that she influenced throughout their lifetime. Besides her parents Breta is predeceased by a son Jeffrey Rossi, a grandson Nicholas Lee Rossi, a brother Charles (Chuck) Hallenbeck, and a sister A. Lucille Syzdek. She was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1956. Later she graduated Gloversville School of Practical Nursing where she earned a license as a LPN Breta was diagnosed with multiple physical condition though she never gave up, she never complained, always maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of the future - even with multiple doctor appointments, rides in ambulance, ER visits, hospitalizations, transfusions and pain. She continued to be a devoted wife, sister, mom, aunt, dear grandmother and friend to all that walked into her path. Filled with compassion and interest in others, Breta made friends easily and maintained in contact with many. She loved taking care of others, especially her boys, their children but most of all her dear husband George. Her and George, enjoyed to travel with their lifelong friends and family, Bill and Betty Maines, George and Bev Kreisel and Joe and Pat Bezak. Before her illness, Breta always enjoyed walking with her long time friend Shirely Milano and her dog Barney, swimming with her dear friend Marilyn at the YMCA, long phone calls with Monica Iannotti, and monthly breakfast with her nursing friends. Breta was employed at St. Mary's Hospital for over 30 years retiring in 1998 due to an injury. She attended St. Stephan's Roman Catholic Church. Breta enjoyed ceramics, gardening and swimming in her pool. When family and friends came over to her home she especially liked taking walks around her pond and enjoying a good time. Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam NY 12010 on Saturday August 12, 2017 from 10am to 12 noon where then a 12 noon Service with Fr. D. Robert DeMartinis will take place with burial to follow in the family plot of the St. Stephens Cemetery, Hagaman NY In lieu of flowers contributions in Breta's name may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105 and Mountain Valley Hospice A celebration of Breta's life will be celebrated on Sunday August 13, from 12noon to 4PM- at the Perthshire banquet hall 112 Perthshire Drive, Amsterdam NY 12010.
