Obituary of Bruce L. Davis
Bruce L. Davis, 77, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Mary's Health Care, Amsterdam.
He was born April 26, 1940 in Chesapeake City, MD. He was the son of the late Henry Davis and Emma Mae Robinson Dether. Bruce married the former Merry Lou Klymkow and celebrated 54 years of marriage.
In Bruce's early years he was a trainer and driver of standard bred horses, racing in the New England States. After settling in New York Bruce was an automobile salesman at various dealerships in Fulton County for 39 years retiring from Rose Buick and Fagant's Auto Sales.
Bruce enjoyed spending time at family gatherings and visiting with family and friends while traveling to his winter home in Florida. While in Florida he enjoyed playing golf with his new friends from the states and Canada. For many years Bruce bowled with the Saturday Night Hellers and was always up for the challenge. He loved getting on his lawn mower to mow all his lawns, his and friends. He was known as the "Lawn Superintendent." He will be missed by all he knew and loved.
Bruce is survived by his wife and three children, Bonnie Scott (Susanne Wilson) of Hernando, FL; Robert Davis (Joanne) of Gloversville and William Davis (Debbie) of Earleville, MD; a brother, Carl Davis of Smyrna, DE; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, also a brother, Henry Davis of Warwick, MD; a sister, Joyce Boulden of Cecilton, MD and a grandson, Joshua Hartford Davis of Gloversville.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00am Thursday, August 10th at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, on the east side of South Kingsboro Avenue in section 115. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association, 1595 Elmwood Ave; Rochester, NY 14620.
