Obituary of Kenneth E. Wallin
Mr. Kenneth E. Wallin, 82, of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Monday August 7, 2017 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Amsterdam, NY on September 22, 1934, a son of the late James and Catherine Johnson Wallin. He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam schools. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute Class of 1952. He later went on to graduate from SUNY Cobleskill in 1958.
Mr. Wallin was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was first employed by Pepsi Cola and the Fitzgerald Bottling company. He then took a position as Auditor at the Department of Agriculture and Markets in Albany where he spent most of his career.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Parish in Amsterdam.
Kenneth enjoyed playing handball for many years at the Amsterdam YMCA in Amsterdam and later Hagaman. He was a avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoyed traveling and visiting Florida and especially South Carolina where he and his wife had a home for six years.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Patricia Miseno, whom he married on December 30, 1956. In addition to his loving wife he is survived by his three children, Timothy (Janet) Wallin of Long Island, Judith "Judy" (Bill Remillard) Cosentino of Amsterdam and Robert Wallin of Planfield, Indiana. One brother, James Wallin of Amsterdam. Five grandchildren, Timothy Durso, Anthony (Sarah) Cosentino, Kirstin Reim, Chloe Wallin and Jacob Wallin. Two great-grandchildren, Waylon Ford and Anthony Cash Cosentino. Mr. Wallin is also survived by sisters-in-law, Carole (Dominick) Canace and Judith Draus. Nieces and nephews, Mary Lisa Rapa, Darlene (Michael) Hime, Christopher Draus, James (Debbie) Wallin and cousin, Dan (Judi) Sprague. He was predeceased by a dear son-in-law, Anthony F. Cosentino who passed away on April 17, 2012.
The family would like to thank the staff at River Ridge LLC, St. Mary's Hospital and the E.L Wilkinson Staff for the wonderful care given to Kenneth.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday August 10, 2017 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Funeral services and Military Honors will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
