Oh Leasa Leasa Leasa... it's your birthday today and you're not here. If you were, you'd have your wig on, your nails done, and you'd let the whole world know today was your day. Dear Newbold Family,
It was sad to hear of the passing of our dear Leasa. We will miss her smile, her wit and humor. She was truly a ray of sunshine.
Leasa was a part of our family. Her relationship with Marcel, Kermit, Matthew, Tanay and Chris was very special. Her time with us in Flint was filled with laughter and adventure. We shared many special moments.
Leasa was like my daughter so she will always hold a special place in my heart.
When I shared the news of her passing with Marcel and Tanay, we reminisced about some of those good times. Our hearts are heavy but Leasa will always be in our hearts and minds.
Kangela and Janice, I hope you will contact me. I was unable to attend the service because I am currently in Atlanta.
I wanted to be there to console you. Please know that I am here if you need anything to help you through this difficult time.

To Newbold and Family:
It was truly a shock to hear of the passing of Leasa. I have such fond memories of her and the times we had. Her great spirit and kind heart. There are no words to truly express how great a person she was and remembering when she would always stop by the school. I am still numb. I am sending prayers from Shenequa, Cameron and myself for this devastating loss. I cannot even fathom what you and your family are going through. Again, we are lighting candles in her memory and are with you and yours in this time of need. Anything I can do or help even though we have not spoke often you (Janice and family) have never been far from my mind.

The first time I ever met Leasa I thought "oh my god, this is my neighbor"? She was loud, and bold. I remember I didn't speak to her for the first few months I lived next to her until one day she came out with this crazy wig. She came up to me and said " you like it!?". I said "it's just as crazy as you are!" I braced for impact because I could of sworn she was gonna stomp me out... Instead she laughed (which was just as loud as her yell) and since then, I loved her. You could always count on her for the truth, because she had no filter. You would never imagine that someone has hard as her would have a heart, but my God she did. She would bend over backwards for anyone and NEVER asked for anything in return. She would tell me "when it comes down to it, we're family"... Yes Leasa, we sure are. 5 AM would roll around and she'd be outside with her loud self already going. You didn't need an alarm clock with her as a neighbor. I dreamed of better days where I could have silence. But to tell the truth, I hate it. It feels empty, and broken over here. It's not the same. This is so unbelievable, I must have to tell myself 5 times a day it is.. She used to joke and say there was a seat for her in hell, but I know with all my heart it's the exact opposite. God looked down and said bring that party over here girl! Anyone that even got a glimpse of Leasas personality should feel honored. God works in mysterious ways, and although we all feel this isn't fair... I thank him for sending her crashing through my path. I have come to adore her family. Even Nana, who hates my cooking and took about 3 times of meeting me before cracking a smile... Your family dynamic I value with the up most respect and I am truly sorry that you have lost one of you.

Practically every day we laughed so hard. She was protective over me. She was like a mom n sister as well as my friend. She was like an aunt to my daughter and the drill Sargent for school. I love her forever!!!
