Obituary of Nora Rose Santos

Amsterdam, NY-Mrs. Nora Rose (Famiano) Santos, 86, of Jewett Street, passed away early Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. At the time of her passing she was in the presence of her loving family. She was born on July 11, 1931 in Schenectady, daughter of the late Frank and Christina (Cappuccio) Famiano and educated in Schenectady schools. Nora was united in marriage with William "Bill" Santos in Schenectady at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Jan. 4, 1953; a blessed 50-year union until his passing Feb. 10, 2003. For many years she considered her job taking care of her loved ones and her home. She loved bowling and playing bocce ball in her spare time. Above all, her foremost priority was taking care of her family. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her devoted family; her children, William Santos and wife Pam, Peter Santos and wife Jackie and Karen Santos all of Amsterdam; a sister, Lillian Mozal of Schenectady; grandchildren, Kateri, Joey, Pete, Angela, Christina and Kristian; great grandchildren, Harrison, Abbigail, Dominic, Giovanni, Zavian and Gianna; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Famiano and a sister, Mary Piersante. Kindly consider memorial offerings in Nora's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The family will be present at Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam to receive relatives and friends on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 from 10 AM until 12 PM. Mrs. Santos' funeral will commence at 12 PM also on Monday from the chapel of the funeral home with Father Pascal "Pat" Iannotti, officiating. Procession will follow to Our Lady of Mt.
