Obituary of Norma Jean Rich
Norma Jean (Summerall) Rich, 82 , of Amsterdam , New York passed away Sunday August 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam in the presence of her loving family.
Norma Jean was born on January 20, 1935 in the Tampa, FL area, daughter of the late Allan and Gladys Summerall. She was educated and graduated from Tampa schools. Norma Jean met the love of her life, Phillip Rich, while they were serving in the United States Marine Corps, stationed at Parris Island in South Carolina. They were joined in marriage in October of 1954. They were married until the time of Phillips passing in 1991. She was united in marriage to her second husband, John Lannon in 1998, living in Narragansett, Rhode Island, Florida and Amsterdam, until his passing in 2015. Norma worked for many years in various positions in the medical care field until becoming a Real Estate Broker and opening her own agency, Adirondack Homes and Properties in Amsterdam.
Norma is survived by her children, Pamela Riccio and her husband Michael, Cheryl Marzullo and her husband Mike, all of Amsterdam, Jeff Rich of Florida and Gregg Rich of the Dominican Republic. Her brothers, Armon Summerall and wife Janice of Florida and Allan Summerall Jr. and his wife Tammy of Tennessee. Grandchildren, Brett and Mike Glotzbecker, Christopher and Melissa Riccio, Samantha and Nic Kosobud, Jessie and Vinnie Vandetta, Michael and Stacy Marzullo, Michele and Dan Pawlik, Philip Rich and Allie Rich. Her much cherished great-grandchildren, Gianni, Cristiano and Adriana Riccio, Michaela and Tessa Glotzbecker, Joe Ressa, Vito and Luca Vandetta and Mickey and Sal Marzullo, sister in law, Carol "Perky" Ross, brother in law, Thom Rich and many nieces and nephews. Her beloved fur babies, Pooky, Jo, Mia and Miss Kitty also survive.
Norma was also predeceased by her dear brother in law, Michael Rich.
Family and friends are invited and may call at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam on Thursday August 17, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM. Norma's funeral will commence following the visitation at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St., Amsterdam at 11:15 AM Thursday with Father Jeffrey M. L'Arche, M.S. presiding. Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. Military Honors will be rendered by the US Marine Corp Honor Guard at St. Michael's Cemetery Chapel on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
