Obituary of Mary C. Noto

Mary C. Noto, 95, formerly of Division Street, resident for the last three years of the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam passed away Wednesday evening, August 16, 2017, with her loving family at her bed side. Born in Amsterdam, New York, October 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Leona (Litto) Messineo. She attended schools in Amsterdam graduating from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. After graduating, she trained as a Beautician and eventually opened Mary Noto's Beauty Salon lasting for 60 years. Mary was a parishioner of the former St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. She enjoyed going to bingo, watching the NY Yankees, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the Amsterdam Hair Dresser Association and the Columbianettes. On February 12, 1946 she married Louis J. Noto who passed away January 12, 2017. Survivors include two sons, Louis Noto and his wife Linda of Amsterdam and Robert Noto and his wife Cindy of Amsterdam; five grandchildren, Tamara, Courtney (Bill), Jennifer, Lisa, Elizabeth and Robert; a great granddaughter, Shelby; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:15 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 John Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 8:30 am until 10:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's Memory to the Ladies of Charity c/o 67 Evelyn Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
