Obituary of Alice B. Shelp
Alice B. Shelp age 99 years of Glen, NY died 8/23/2017. Alice was born in Glen, NY on 7/4/1918 and was the daughter of the late Jay V.S. and Mary (Stocker) Shelp.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Glen Reformed Church on Tuesday, August 29 from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the conclusion of the calling hour, with Rev. Tom Flander Jr. and Rev. Charles Hesselink co-officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at the family plot of The Maple Ave. Cemetery, Fultonville, NY.
During her lifetime, Alice was employed by Beech Nut Packing Co. and the Montgomery County Department of Public Works in Fonda NY.
Alice loved to travel. Her adventures took her to many countries including: Italy, Egypt, Holland, Russia, Ireland and The Holy Land.
She also loved the arts, regularly frequenting Glimmer Glass Opera in Cooperstown and the summer orchestra and ballet in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Alice was a member of the Glen Reformed Church,, singing in the church choir for over 50 years and the Caughnawaga Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Among Alice's many interests were a particular love of daylilies and collecting Majolica.
Alice is survived by a cousin Ruth (William) E. Harding and her daughter Lynn Harding of Florida. And Karen (John) Stodghill of South Carolina. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by a sister Margaret S. Fauteux who passed away in 1994.
