Obituary of John Babravich
John Babravich, 67, of Fort Johnson, N.Y., has gone to his eternal rest on Monday August 28th, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Born on August 23rd, 1950 in Amsterdam N.Y., he was the son of the late Catherine Sweeney and John Babravich. John graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1968. He spent many years as a truck driver with CXX Transportation Inc. John proudlyserved our country and enlisted into the U.S Navy in 1968. He was stationed in Jacksonville F.L. and bravely served 2 tours in the Mediterranean aboard the USS Roosevelt.
John was a very sociable person who was friendly and well natured. He enjoyed cooking and spending time in his Mustang convertible. John also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved attending the annual Harley Davidson Rendezvous. He loved to travel and spent some time visiting various places in Europe. John had a deep-seated passion for playing billiards. It was by far his favorite past time. He would compete annually in the Turning Stone Classic Mike Zuglan's Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour, in addition to many sub tournaments as well.
John is survived by his sister Cleta (Chuck) Niles; his brother Richard (Bonnie) Babravich; and his nephew Richard John (Lori) Babravich. Many loving cousins and close friends also survive. John is predeceased by his parents Catherine and John Babravich.
A Funeral Service for John will take place on Saturday September 2nd, 2017 at 12pm at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, N.Y. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Main Street, Fort Johnson, N.Y. The family will receive visitors from 10am -12pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Contribution may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA, PO Box 484, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Avenue (135), Albany, NY 12208.
