Obituary of Dora D. Manaia
Dora D. Manaia, 82, of Vandenburgh Point Road, Gloversville died peacefully after a long illness on August 28, 2017. She was born on June 29, 1935 the daughter of the late Emmett and Lena Hunter Sweet.
A lifelong area resident, Dot attended Mayfield schools and was employed as a meat wrapper for several years at local grocery stores.
On July 29, 1954 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Daniel R. Manaia. They were married for nearly 63 years until his passing on July 6, 2017. She was also predeceased by her son, Daniel E. Manaia; one brother, Charles Sweet; and two sisters, Luella Lathrop and Yvonne Crannell.
Dot enjoyed being with her family, shopping and camping. She was an avid NASCAR fan. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, listening to country music, reading, cooking and knitting.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Wojcicki and Penny (Paul) Johnston; three grandchildren, Matthew (Tiffany) Wojcicki, Ashley (Chuck) Willson, Holly (Justin) Kirk; and two great grandchildren, Calianne Wojcicki and Graysen Kirk.
Dot's family wishes to thank the entire staff at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nathan Littauer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their outstanding care and support.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 4p.m. at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main Street, Broadalbin with the Rev. Dr. R.W. William presiding. A gathering for family and friends will take place prior to the service beginning at 2p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place in the Northville Cemetery.
