Obituary of Thomas F. O'Bryan

Mr. Thomas F. O'Bryan, 93, formerly of Clinton Avenue, Fort Plain, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 following a brief illness, and a long accomplished life. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Thomas and Carrie O'Bryan. Tom grew up in Corning, NY and attended local schools. He served proudly with the United States Navy during WWII for "3 years, 6 months and 5 days" aboard the USS Nestor. Tom then went on to graduate from Ithaca College. He was employed for over 30 years as an auditor for Agway Inc. On July 17, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marguerite C. Loan O'Bryan. That union lasted 60 years until her sudden passing on January 24, 2009. He was also predeceased by four siblings, Geraldine, William, Robert and Doris. Tom along with his wife, Marguerite built a beautiful life together and created a lasting legacy. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and was an animated euchre and bridge player. He also enjoyed doing the Jumble in the daily paper. Tom especially loved wintering in Florida and enjoyed being a "Poppa" to his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. His loving family include his six children, Kevin M. O'Bryan and his wife Patricia of Troy, NY, Kristine M. Kirkpatrick and her husband John of Ft. Plain, Thomas E. O'Bryan and his wife Lisa of Palm Bay, FL, Michael P. O'Bryan and his wife Eileen of Manlius, NY, Daniel S. O'Bryan and his wife Carol of New Hartford, NY and Andrew J. O'Bryan and his wife Lisa of Oriskany, NY; 19 grandchildren, Colin (Sari) O'Bryan, Brendan (Colleen) O'Bryan, Karey (Ryan) Nobles, Amy (Joe)Bartholomew, Caitlin (Jordan) Baker, Seth (Julie) O'Bryan, Beth (Brandyn) Blunt, Dylan O'Bryan, Christopher Piccioni, Brian Piccioni, Aaron O'Bryan, Rory (Tracey) O'Bryan, Barbara O'Bryan, Michael O'Bryan, Sean O'Bryan, Matthew O'Bryan, Stephanie O'Bryan, Natalie O'Bryan and Trevor O'Bryan; 19 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Aidan, Eamonn, Clara, Fiona, Caleigh, Luke, Henry, Quinn, Jordan, Esther, Joseph, Cecilia, Carson, Emma, Logan, Nora, Jack and Eleanor; siblings, Terry O'Bryan and Margaret (Karl) Congdon; and nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery.
