Obituary of Monica M. Martin
Mrs. Monica M. Martin, 86, of Country Club Lane, Ft. Johnson, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Mrs. Martin was born on November 24, 1930 in Granville, NY a daughter of Michael and Mary Reil Minogue. She was a graduate of Granville High School class of 1948. She went on to Potsdam State Teacher's College and graduated in 1952. Monica taught school in North Chatham, NY and in Salem NY.
Mrs. Martin was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the St. Mary's Hospital Gift Shop for many years. She was also a past member of the Jr. Century Club in Amsterdam.
Monica loved being surrounded by her family and friends and was the life of the party. She loved all of her family pets and animals. She was very proud of her Irish Heritage and loved the Fighting Irish. She also enjoyed sharing her family memories of growing up in Granville, NY
Monica married James Martin, Jr. on April 10, 1955. He passed away on June 19, 2013.
She is survived by her children, sons, Daniel G. Martin of Boynton Beach, Florida and Timothy Martin of Lake Worth, Florida; her daughters, Kelli Martin and Regina Zaccardo of Saratoga and Nora Jacoby of Boca Raton, Florida, her grandchildren; Zoe Jacoby, "the triplets" Olivia, Julia and Sophia Martin. Her daughter-in-law, Carole Martin of Amsterdam and sister-in-law, Charlotte Z. Minogue. Nieces, nephews, cousins and Monica's many dear friends.
Monica was predeceased by her beloved son, James "Michael" Martin on April 30, 2015, a brother, John Minogue, a sister, Kathleen Ward and her husband Bill, and a sister Nora and her husband Ray Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at 1:15PM at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main St. Amsterdam. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday September 12, 2017 prior to the funeral mass from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the Church. Flowers are acceptable and memorial contributions may be made: Foundation at St. Mary's Hospital or St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
