Maria ... one of the kind beautiful people in the world. The world is better because she was in it. This is difficult for me to understand why. She was an amazing woman.
So many lives are changed for the better because she touched their hearts ... souls ... A TRUE teacher because of who she was.
We shared many laughs and moments of understanding.
She is and will always be in my heart and prayers.
I will cherish her presence in my life.
Lovingly,
Richard J. Ricciardi

I didn't really know Mrs.Hallenbeck-Brown that well but my brothers and cousins had her for a math teacher and they said she was a great teacher and person. I participated in her St.Jude math-a-thon in sixth and seventh grade and made a great effort to help those in need. I am sorry for the family of this great woman who will be sadly missed -Adam Loveless

Sincere condolences to the family, and friends, and all the wonderful students who were blessed to know Maria. She was a great mentor to me as I was going through my Observations to become a teacher. As I observed her I realized I would love to be her, she made sure they all knew how how she cared about each and everyone of them. May God bless her as he blesses all Angels who he greets in heaven.

Maria was always such a kind person. My daughter has always said how comforting Maria was to her when her father died. When my sister passed, Maria told me how much she had respected her. In meetings, Maria's was always a smiling, welcoming face. We should all aspire to be more like her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Chris,Mike,and Kolin,
My husband and I were classmates of your Mom and always shared a laugh or a story with her it didn't matter if we were 16 or 63 Maria was always herself. Later she was our daughters nursery school teacher at Little Rocking Horse. Ask any one of them who their favorite teacher was an it's Mrs. hallenbeck. Abby always points out she was the lucky one to have Mrs. Hallenbeck again in Estee!
The days and months ahead will be hard without her smile and encouragement but always keep her spirit alive for your children.
Sadly,
Bob,Margaret,Molly,Meghan,and Abby Hartnett

The Mediocre teacher tells.
The Good teacher explains.
The Superior teacher demonstrates.
The Great teacher inspires.

To me, this sums up the kind of teacher Maria was. She was one of the Great ones. I only knew Maria for a brief time and was lucky to have been her teaching assistant for her last year at GMS. The students and myself learned so much in that time. She was a joyful soul that will be sorely missed by all. Maria's legacy of a beautiful family and inspiring career is one that will live on.
With sincere sympathy,
Susan Dennie and Family

Maria was certainly one of the most lovely and generous people I've met. As a friend of her boys, she was kind enough to open her home to me and our friends on several occasions. She was always very quick with a hug and a smile. She was so proud of her family. Maria raised three very fine young men who I know will continue to live and carry her legacy of love and kindness.
Deepest condolences and lots of love,

My husband and I are so very sad to hear of the passing of a most beautiful soul in Maria. As well as a fellow parishioner at Holy Spirit Church, she was our children's pre-school teacher some 35 years ago. Our children absolutely loved her, as did we. She always had a great smile, positive outlook and love for teaching and people in general. We will truly pray for her and her family. Rest in peace, Maria. God is with you.

Maria was a very special person ......had the honor to do a live broadcast in her class room for the children at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.....her love for the children at St. Jude's did not go by unnoticed .....each year she continue to raise money for the children with her projects. Very sharing and caring person....she will be missed for her love for the children suffering with cancer and her desire to help them. The late Doctor Donny Lomanto along with my staff at the stations left her class room as better people for her love for children.......this community was lucky to have Maria to share her time and talents as a teacher.......rest in peace Maria and a Big Thank You from the children at St. Jude's Hospital. Job well done. Joey Caruso

Maria was an inspiration to many. She was always willing to offer a helping hand and a listening ear when you needed one. She always shared her knowledge of math and materials with me when I needed them, and I could not thank her enough. She was also one of my daughter's favorite teachers who helped her gain the confidence she needed in math in order to do well in high school. Maria will always be a part of our hearts. My Aunt Maria was full of so much joy! She loved her family so much! One of my best memories as a child was spending the Saturday before Christmas at her house. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had. I never did my math homework for her class. So she would make me call my parents at work to tell them I was staying after. I always hated that. But the older I got, I realized she did that to make me a better student. She was the reason I started loving math class. She will be surely missed by all and I will never forget her.
