It was an incredible union that remained strong until his passing on January 9th, 2010. She spent most of her young life on Long Island, in addition to Brooklyn, and Queens before relocating to the area with her family in 1988.
Veronica was a faithful communicant of the former St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. She had a profound passion for being a homemaker and being actively involved with her grandchildren. She adored spending time with her husband and family near the ocean enjoying activities such as boating and fishing. Veronica was selfless and dependable, she will be fondly remembered for her nurturing, loving, and benevolent personality.
Veronica is survived by her daughters, Claire (Eliot) King, Irene Kanard, and Diane (Tom) Wren all of Amsterdam, NY; her grandchildren, Debbie, Gina, Michelle, Thomas, Erin, Brendan, and Christopher. Several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Veronica is preceded in death by her beloved husband William J. Kanard Jr.; her daughter Carol Meyer; her son Robert Kanard; her grandson Joseph Arroyo; and her brothers and sisters.
Our Family wishes to thank all the Nurses & staff of Wilkinson RHCF for their giving and compassionate care of our Mother/Nan Veronica, especially Stephanie, Kristina, Justine, Heather, Sara, Jess, Lorraine, Kelsey, Yvette, Crystal, Rebecca, Brook, Michelle, Melissa, Jazz, Terisa, Julianna, Elizabeth (Beth), Patricia, & our own Angel Doris who had such a special connection with Mom/Nan, without them we would have never made it through Mom's illness. We apologize to any of the wonderful staff we may have missed, though their compassion was deeply felt and appreciated the amount of care we received was overwhelming. They lifted us up with their smiles, hugs & encouragement. We will forever hold dear the friendships/family we made on the third floor of the facility, many people will walk into our lives but few will leave footprints.
