Obituary of Angeline Pallotta DePasquale

Mrs. Angeline Pallotta DePasquale , 98 , of Amsterdam , NY, passed away Friday evening September 22, 2017 at River Ridge Living Center, LLC, with her loving family at her side. She was born on April 3, 1919 in Guardarigia, Campobasso, Italy, the daughter of Michael and Maria Christina Pallotta. She came to Amsterdam, NY at the age of 5 and attended and graduated from Amsterdam schools. She lived in Amsterdam most of her life before moving to Pineview Commons in Johnstown, NY. She was employed at the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mill and later at local glove shops in Johnstown and Amsterdam. She last worked at Esquire Novelty in Amsterdam retiring in 1988. Angie was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a lifetime member of the Christian Women Society of the church. She enjoyed volunteering at bingo and the annual spaghetti suppers where she was known as the "salad lady" of the church. She was also a member of the Inman Seniors where she volunteered in the kitchen and was known for her famous western egg sandwiches. Angie was a member of The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Council #209. She also volunteered and co-chaired the High Rise Sunday Bingo for many years. Angie loved to serve and help others and will be remembered for her generosity in helping others. She married Onofrio "Patsy" DePasquale who passed away in June of 1972. Angie is survived by her step-son, Peter (Dolores) DePasquale of Perth. Three brothers, Joseph Pallotta of Saratoga, NY, Nicholas (Gretchen) Pallotta of Amsterdam and Anthony "Babe" (Karen) Pallotta of Amsterdam. Nine grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Susan Tofinchio and a step-son, Joseph DePasquale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 11:15AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 39 St. John St. Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday prior to the funeral mass at the church from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Rd., Amsterdam, NY 12010, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John St., Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Inman Senior Center, 53 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
