Obituary of Vincenza Greco
Vincenza "Jennie" Greco, 99, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, October 5, 1017, at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam on Sept. 11, 1918, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Antonina Mistrette Amico, she lived in Amsterdam her entire life and was a home maker. She and her late husband Frank owned and operated the former Greco's Market in Amsterdam and Jennie was also employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady. Jennie worked as a glove maker for several local glove companies. She retired in 1977 from the Montgomery Co. Infirmary. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards and following retirement, travelling with her husband especially winters in Florida.
Jennie was a member of the Inman Seniors and Community Seniors, the Red Hat Society, as well as a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Amsterdam.
On January 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Frank A. Greco Sr. who predeceased her in 2000. Jennie will always be remembered for her love of family and her positive outlook on life.
She leaves her loving family, sons, Frank Greco and his wife Carol and Robert S. Greco and his wife Susan; grandchildren, Frankie Greco, Chris (Chrissy) Greco, Ben Greco, Cheryl (Dave) Sullivan, Joanna (Sean) Paterek, Rob (Erin) Greco; great grandchildren Brody, David, Kaylee, Ryan, Robbie and James; nieces and nephews. Her brothers Frank and Rosario predeceased her.
A prayer service will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:15am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam with the Fr. Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Fort Johnson. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jennie's memory to the Mt. Carmel Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Jennie's family wishes to thank all who cared for her during her time of need.
