Obituary of Edward David Vincent

Edward David Vincent, 94, of Johnstown, NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Monday, October 9th, 2017. Born on March 7th, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Polly Jane Fitzgerald and David Anthony Vincent. Edward was a graduate of Fonda High School Class of 1941. He married the love of his life Beverly J. Wadsworth on February 6th, 1942. Edward bravely served in 355th infantry regiment, 89th Division; heavy weapons company D as a machine gunner and ammunition bearer. He served in European Theatre of operations for 12 months, earned WWII Victory Medal After returning from his WWII service in the US Army, Edward was employed at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. He earned his retirement after 37 dedicated years in building 273 as a Machinist. Edward enjoyed many things but none more than being outdoors hunting and fishing. In recent years he loved to spend some time trying his luck at the Racino in Saratoga Springs, NY. Edward is survived by his daughter Darlyn Ballard of Amsterdam, NY; his son Gary (Bette) Vincent of Gloversville, NY; his grandchildren, Tracey (Brad) Ravlin Fair Haven, VT, Todd Vincent of Gloversville, NY, and Shannon Ballard of Glens Falls; his great grandchildren, Alexandra and Nicholas Vincent; his sister Gloria (John) Taylor of Charleston, SC; and his brother Donald (Leslie) Vincent of Johnstown, NY. Many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Edward is predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly J. Vincent; his loving parents Polly Jane and David Vincent; and his son in law James Ballard. Edward will be interred beside his wife at Evergreen Cemetery Sandflats, 296 Martin Road, Fonda NY, 12068. A Graveside Service will be held at the discretion of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY 12072.
