Obituary of Blanche D. Richards
Mrs. Blanche D. "Frenchy" Richards, 92, of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 surrounded by her family following a brief illness. Born in Riviere- Du- Loup, Canada on September 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Deschenes.
Frenchy grew up in Canada and moved to Canajoharie in 1965. She was employed by Beech- Nut in the Jar Tapping Department retiring in 1988. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Hope in Fort Plain, New York.
On July 17, 1965 she was united in marriage to Wallace L. Richards. That union lasted 40 years until his passing on January 4, 2005. She was also predeceased by her children, David and Timothy Richards; and her brothers, Paul and Leonard Deschenes.
Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Collins and her husband Michael of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Lucy Richards of Barrow, AK; six grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1 o'clock at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 115 Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY 13319 with the Rev. Jim Davis as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Canajoharie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
