Obituary of Marvin L. Solomon
Marvin L. Solomon, 89, of Johnstown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.
He was born on February 8th, 1928, the son of the late Fannie Feinberg and Samuel Solomon. Marvin graduated from Gloversville High School, Class of 1946 and earned his Business Degree from Nichols College. He bravely served our country in the Korean War as a member of the US Army. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and a longtime member of the Knesseth Israel Synagogue.
Marvin married the love of his life, Barbara Fink on January 31st, 1960. It was a strong and beautiful union that lasted 57 years. Marvin was a devoted family man who was compassionate and kind. His great personality that was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Marvin is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Solomon; his sons, Neal J. (Dr. Robin M.) Solomon, Dr. Frederick E. (Danielle M.) Solomon, and Brian M. (Michelle M.) Solomon. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Willow M. Solomon, Lily S. Solomon, and Ayla J. Solomon whom he loved dearly. In addition he leaves behind his dear feline friend Sheba. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends also survive. Marvin was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Fannie Solomon, and his dear sister, Marilyn Finkle.
A Funeral Service for Marvin will take place on Sunday, October 29th, 2017 at 11:30AM at Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 East Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY. Burial will follow immediately at the Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Clyde Street, Gloversville, NY. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in Marvin's honor may be made to American Heart Association, P.O Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY.
