Obituary of Wilma M. Ward

Wilma Marlene May Parker Ward Age 81 yrs. of Gloversville, NY , died October 27, 2017. She was born in Northville, NY, and was the daughter of the late Solomon and Ola Mae May. Wilma is survived by 8 children, Kenneth Ward Jr., Douglas Ward, Lynne Ward, Dawn Ward, all of Gloversville, NY, Doreen Hernigle, and Larry Ward both of Fultonville, NY, Bonnie Knight of Norwich, NY., and Gerald Parker of Longview, TX. Three Brothers Roger May of Kentucky, Rodney May of Corinth, and Solomon May. Two Sisters Valerie Canfield of Northville, and Carol Guy of Gloversville. Five grandchildren Michael Knight, Bethany Knight, Melody Parker, Thomas Parker, and David Parker. She is also survived by greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews. Besides her parents Wilma is predeceased by a son David Ward, and also by sisters Alma Mesick, Janice Green, Infant Thelma, and by Kenneth Ward Sr. Relatives and Friends are invited to call on Friday November 17, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM with a memorial service to follow at 7 PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. During Wilma's lifetime, she worked many jobs. She was a very determined, and hard working woman who never gave up. Some of the jobs, to name a few that she worked are as follows: babysitting, nurse's aide at the old Nathan Littaeur Hospital, housekeeper, taxi dispatcher, service clerk at Hannaford's, and was also employed at Woolworth's. Wilma was also a knitter at Somerst Ind. for over 25 years. Wilma had a particular fondness for anything to do with Coca-Cola, and hippos. Wilma also enjoyed listening to country music - particularly bluegrass. Her hobbies included : building shelves, crotcheting baby blankets ,sewing and cooking/baking ,especially for her family. She also enjoyed coloring in her adult coloring books in her later years, and enjoyed sharing her work with those she loved. She also enjoyed cheering the NY Mets to victory. Wilma loved her family very much and was loved by everyone she encountered. Wilma left a footprint wherever she was.
