Obituary of Rosel K. Leneker

Mrs. Rosel K. Leneker, 88, of Fort Plain, NY died suddenly on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home. Born in Wittgenborn (Wächtersbach), Germany she was one of five children born to Wilhelm and Frieda Löwer. Rosel grew up in Germany and attended Business school. In 1954 she immigrated to the United States. A very dedicated worker, Rosel worked for various local companies including, Arkell & Smith, LaSalle Labs, Coleco and Trustco Bank. A devout Lutheran, Rosel was a member of the former St. John's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie. She taught Sunday school and always guided those in the faith to do more, and to offer their works to God. For over the past two decades she has served as the Parish Administrator for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. Rosel was an avid baker and cook. She hosted coffee hour at church, family celebrations and friends in her home. She could often be found admiring and tending to her many flower beds around her home and church. Along with her faith, Rosel enjoyed being a Mother, Tante and Oma to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers, Willi and Heinrich Löwer. Survivors include her daughter, Rosemarie D'Arcangelis and her husband Robert of Fort Plain, NY; two grandchildren, Yio D'Arcangelis and Stephanie D'Arcangelis; two great grandchildren, Chenya and Van; her siblings, Maria Protzmann and Ernst Löwer; and several nieces and nephews in Germany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 12p.m. at the Chapel of Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, with the Rev. William T. Hodgetts, Jr. officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place prior beginning at 10a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 42, Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
