When I think of the types of qualities that describe a true friend; things like love, honesty, commitment, unselfishness, and fierce loyalty, I need only think of Big Joe. He embodied these things... and so much more. First to my father (who he is reunited with in heaven), and then, by extension to me. I was so blessed to be a bridge between the two of them. I only wish that i had more time to hang out with my big brother Joe; to eat his italian food, laugh out loud and hear him tell me those crazy stories of his many exploits with "Hugs". He even called me everday during Hurricane Irma checking to see if I was ok down here in Florida. Man, I'm gonna miss that dude. There is a huge hole in my heart today, but I'm so fortunte to have called Joe my friend. I'll hold onto that forever. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. He loved you all so much.

To the family of Joe LaConte~
It is with a heavy heart that I learned that Joey passed!
He was a 'scorch' and to know him was to love him.
He used to come and get his meds and he never failed to make me laugh when he would pick me up and put me down.
His gold was something you could not miss and his smile was infectious~
but most of all I was honored to call him my FRIEND~
Your work is done for now and until we meet again some day
Light Lead Kindly
Love you and rest i peace:hearts:

Joey (Rat) was such a friendly and happy soul, and a very generous person. As so many people know, he was also an excellent cook as well. Our family and friends especially liked his chicken marsala that he cooked for our daughter's graduation and for other functions at our home. Joey, Bill, and I had a lot of laughs and good times back in the day. :) The Lord brought him home at an early age and so very unexpected. Joey will be missed by many. Our sympathy goes out to his wife Sue, his daughter Melissa, his grandson Tyrell, and to the entire LaConte family. God Bless until we meet again.

Sue and family, I knew Joe for many years and also worked with him at Hillcrest Spring. He always had a smile on his face and a kind heart. He was so good to the residents, always had a kind word with them. He loved you Sue and always spoke so highly of you. He adored Tyrell. We had many conversations about the casino and things he did with you and Tyrell. He often talked about losing his mother and brothers and most recently about your father. He will truly be missed by the staff and residents at Hillcrest.
