Obituary of Rosemary Sliva Poole

Mrs. Rosemary Sliva Poole, 67, of Broadway, Amsterdam, passed away Friday morning November 3, 2017 at her home. Born in Amsterdam, NY on October 14, 1950 a daughter of the late Leon J. and Winifred Wojtyna Sliva. She was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and was a 1968 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She received her Associate's Degree in Human Services from FMCC. Rosemary while raising her children was very active in their school PTO, as well as Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader. She was a volunteer and advocate for the Montgomery County SPCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization and the Masonic Lodge Soup Kitchen. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and was involved in teaching Pre-Cana classes for a time with her husband. She was employed for many years as a Habilitation Specialist for Liberty Enterprises in Amsterdam. Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She truly loved cooking, traveling, baking, gardening, caring for animals and loved to attend zumba classes at Alpin Haus Fitness. Survivors include her loving husband, Charles "Chuck" Poole of Amsterdam. Two beloved children, Deborah (Charles) Lis-Mitchell of Amsterdam and Andrew "Andy" (Raelynn) Lis of Broadalbin, NY. One sister, Susan (John C.) Hemcher of Chester Springs, PA. Grandchildren, Jane Rose, Alex and Olivia Lis and Austin and Meagan Mitchell. Sister-in-law, Patricia Ann "Pat" (Larry "Uncle Buck") Buchanan of Tribes Hill, NY. A niece Jackie Buchanan and nephew Brian Buchanan. Great nieces and nephew, Gianna, Brennon and Alyssa, and dear friend Marybeth "B-Bets". Cousins and many friends also survive. Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved son Christopher Lis on September 21, 1993 and her dear step-son, Jeffrey Poole on September 25, 1994. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at 11:15 A.M. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Amsterdam with Father Jeffrey M. L'Arche, M.S. and Father Thomas Krupa con-celebrating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
