Obituary of Warren G. Dennie
Warren G. Dennie died peacefully in West Chester, PA, on November 12th, 2017 at 90 years of age. Warren was born March 20th, 1927. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Grace Dennie. He graduated from Gloversville High School in 1944, Choate-Rosemary Hall in 1945 and Principia College in 1951. He was a Merchant Marine Cadet from 1945-1946, and served as a Lt. (JG) in the United States Navy during the Korean War. For much of his life, he lived in Gloversville NY, where he worked and later retired as President/Owner of Warden Leathers, Inc. and Logan Leather Corporation.
Warren married Ingrid Meyering on July 13th, 1957. She predeceased him, dying on June 10th, 2008. He is survived by his three sons: Bradford Dennie of Gloversville, NY; Todd Dennie of Berlin, Germany; Trevor Dennie and his wife Amy of Tacoma, WA; and daughter Ellen (Dennie) Beausang and her husband Alexander of West Chester, PA. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Skyler, Chase, Reese, Isabella, Soren and Tate. Warren was also predeceased by his infant son, Lansing in 1965, and his two elder brothers: George (1972) and Norman (2005).
Warren served as President of the Fulton County Economic Development Corp. Board of Directors, President of the Gloversville Enlarged School District, Chairman of the Gloversville Salvation Army Board; Chairman of the Gloversville Board of Trustees of the YWCA; Vice President of the Fulton County Historical Society; and the Treasurer of the Gloversville Save-Our-Services. He also served on the Boards of the Gloversville YMCA; United Way; and the Canada Lake Protective Association. He was a student of Christian Science.
Warren was a licensed private pilot, scuba diver, tennis player and rowing enthusiast. For several years he directed and ran in the AAU road races in the Gloversville area. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his love of sports (especially the NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys), strong moral ethics and generosity for many causes and charities.
A memorial service will be held at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY on Saturday, December 9th at 2PM.
