Obituary of Mary T. Winkle

Mrs. Mary T. Winkle, 94, formerly of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at the Bethel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Croton On Hudson, New York. Born in Amsterdam on June 15, 1923 she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Gomula. Mary was employed as a Cook for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital. Following her retirement, she relocated to Westchester County to be closer to family. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. On October 19, 1941 she was united in marriage to Theodore Winkle. Sadly that union ended 24 years later tragically with his death on March 13, 1965. She was also predeceased by her siblings, John and Edward Gomula, Sadie Anderson, Ann Strazewski, Adeline Ratkewicz and Stella Gomula. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Winkle and her husband Daniel Fasano; two grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren Fasano; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11 o'clock at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, 50 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 3 until 5p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
