Obituary of Eleanor Greco

Mrs. Eleanor Greco, 88, of Amsterdam, NY died peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017. Born in Fonda, New York she was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Luciano Intonte. Eleanor was a lifelong area resident. After Eleanor graduated high school she married Mario Greco. They were married for 65 years and raised five sons. While her boys were young she spent summers at the family's camp at Great Sacandaga Lake, where she entertained them and their friends. During those years Eleanor developed a swift, funny, quick sense of humor. Eleanor and Mario opened Marios Restaurant in Amsterdam in 1974, which they operated for 27 years until they retired and moved to Mayfield Lake. While living there Ellie enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and gardening. Eleanor and Mario also loved to travel, visiting Portugal, Switzerland, Hawaii and Italy. She also enjoyed several fishing trips to Canada and fishing the local lakes with her sons. Eleanor was a devoted Grandmother. She will be sadly missed but wonderfully remembered by all who knew and loved her. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Mario Greco Sr., all of her siblings, Tony, Albert, Richard, Angie, Laura, and Natalie, and one beautiful granddaughter Kristine. Survivors include her sons Augustine of Nassau, Michael (Terry), of Broadalbin, Marty (Annie) of Mayfield, Gene (Diane) of Edinburg, and Christopher (Patricia) of Glenville, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nathan Littauer Nursing Home, 99 East State Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
