Obituary of Lucille Brooks

Lucille Brooks, 81, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017, in the comfort of her own home with her loving family by her side. Born on December 12th, 1935 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Mustico and Alfred Fasula. Lucille graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1952. Lucille spent many years employed by Liberty ARC as a manager. She also held positions at Mount Loretto Nursing Home as a CNA, and at St. Mary's Hospital in the billing department. On August 29th, 1954 she was joined in marriage to Thomas M. Brooks. It was a strong and beautiful union that lasted nearly 55 years until his passing on July 11th, 2008. She was a generous, supportive, and warm hearted woman who took great pride in caring for her family. She was a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Lucille was also an avid animal lover. Lucille is survived by her daughter Kathleen (David) Saltsman, her son Thomas Brooks (Rhonda Godfrey), her sister Roberta (Leonard) Cross, her grandchildren, Jason Brooks (Elizabeth Rosado), Jacquelyn (Bret) Hesler, Kristyle DiMezza (Jason C. Carpenter), and Amanda (Justin) Wright, her great grandchildren, Kassandra Brooks, Nicholas DiMezza, Richard Downey, and David Downey Jr., her Godson Matthew Cross, and nephews Ian Cross and Alexander Cross. Several more loving nieces and nephews also survive. Lucille is predeceased by her dear parents Alfred and Fannie Fasula, her beloved husband Thomas, and her daughter-in-law Susan Brooks. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to her son Thomas, and Rhonda Godfrey for their dedicated assistance in caring for Lucille in recent months, and son-in-law David for his ongoing support throughout the years. The family would also like to thank Nick Lamori for his many acts of kindness, as well as the nurses at Hospice, the doctors, nurses, aides at St. Mary's Hospital, Wilkinson Rehabilitation and nursing staff, and Kindred Services. A special thank you to Carm DeRhonda and Lucille Farrell for their continued friendship throughout the years. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday November 24th, 2017 at 2pm at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Internment will immediately follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Truax Rd., Amsterdam. The family will receive visitors on Friday November 24th, 2017 from 1-2pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
